Today, our incredible kitchen staff and custodian went above and beyond! Due to an unexpected water leak that needed immediate repair, lunch plans had to change fast, but that didn’t stop our team. 💪
In under an hour, 264 students were fed — and our kitchen crew did it with grace, speed, and smiles! 🥪💛 Our custodian worked tirelessly to make sure everything was safe and running smoothly so the day could continue without a hitch.
We are so grateful for their hard work, flexibility, and teamwork. You truly make OCS shine! ✨👏

Our amazing first graders at OCS wrapped up their fairy tale unit in the most creative way — by building Cinderella’s Castle out of recyclables! 🏰♻️

Our kindergartners at OCS had a blast exploring measurement throughout their classroom today! From tables and chairs to books and blocks, they measured it all — discovering how tall things are and learning to compare different sizes. 🌟
Hands-on activities like this build early math and problem-solving skills, and as a STEM school, we love seeing our youngest learners grow their curiosity and critical thinking. 💡💙

🚲 OCS Bike Club is BACK! 🚲
We kicked off our 21st Century Afterschool Bike Club with smiles, excitement, and a whole lot of energy! Kids were running to the bike area, thrilled to reunite with their Wheelfun coaches and get back on two wheels. 🙌
New riders got a crash course (without the crashes!) in bike basics, while our seasoned pros reviewed their skills before hitting the bike park. Watching their confidence grow lap by lap was incredible!
Big shoutout to our amazing Wheelfun coaches—you truly rock! 💥 And to our awesome OSC students: your determination, enthusiasm, and joy remind us why we do this. 💛

Meet our amazing Oak Creek School 2nd grade teacher, Chrissy Walter
For 20+ years, Mrs. Walter has been making a difference in the lives of her students! In the classroom, she is innovative, passionate, and dedicated to making learning fun and engaging. She has a gift for bringing stories to life, making math enjoyable, and creating an environment where students are excited to learn. Most of all, she’s just a really kind and awesome teacher, and it’s clear every day how much she loves teaching her students. Her impact lasts well beyond 2nd grade, older students still return to say hello and share the lasting influence she’s had on their lives.
Mrs. Walter grew up right here in Sedona and has always had a love for learning. She earned her Master’s in Education with a minor in Science and is a proud graduate of Northern Arizona University. Her strong educational foundation and local roots make her an even more treasured part of our school community.
Outside of school, Mrs. Walter continues to inspire as the Head Coach of Mingus’s Girls Varsity Soccer Team. A former Division II soccer player herself, she brings her love of sports and her competitive spirit to the field. She uses the game to teach lifelong lessons of teamwork, perseverance, and never giving up, lessons that carry over to every part of life.

Naturally, the kids came up with some wild theories about why he was here. Our favorite? "He’s lost on a road trip, looking for a beach party!" 😂
Turns out, pelicans don’t just hang out by the ocean, sometimes they wander inland in search of food or just like to mix things up. Who knew? 🤷♂️
We’re all just waiting for the day one of them shows up with a surfboard. 🏄♂️🌵
