☀️🌧️🌪️ Kindergarten Weather Watch at OCS! 🌈❄️
Our OCS kindergarteners have been busy meteorologists this week! Students have been learning all about different weather patterns — sunshine, rain, wind, clouds, storms, and even snow.
After discussing how weather changes and what signs we look for in the sky, our little learners took their knowledge outside and turned the sidewalk into a weather gallery! Using colorful chalk, they drew swirling tornadoes, bright suns, fluffy clouds, rainy skies, and even lightning bolts. 🌩️
It was such a fun, hands-on way to connect science learning with creativity. We love seeing our students observe, imagine, and express what they’re learning in new ways!
Way to go, OCS Kindergarten! 👏🌤️

🎉📚 OCS Celebrates the 100th Day of School! 📚🎉
Today was 100% full of fun as Oak Creek School celebrated the 100th Day of School in so many creative ways!
🧮 3rd Grade showed off their math stamina by completing 100 multiplication problems right on their desks—now that’s dedication!
🎨 Kindergarten celebrated by coloring in 100 different shapes, showing off both creativity and counting skills.
🎈 1st Grade joined in on the excitement with their own 100th Day celebrations filled with learning and fun.
🍬 2nd Grade celebrated in the best way ever… CANDY! Learning is always sweeter with a little treat.
🔍 5th Grade put their brains to work with a math scavenger hunt, combining problem-solving with teamwork.
And that was just part of it! Classrooms across campus were buzzing with counting, creating, celebrating, and smiling all day long. What a fun and memorable way to mark 100 days of learning, growth, and success at OCS! 💯✨

🎃 Kind of fitting that our LISA Smart Snack pilot refrigerator showed up on Halloween of all days — while everyone else is loading up on sugar, we’re rolling out healthy choices!
Huge thanks to the incredible COCSD Facilities crew, led by Matt Dalton, for moving and installing this 500-pound beast of a fridge — and even adding a dedicated power supply to make it all possible. 💪
Mrs. Ludden captured the perfect photo — the fridge framed by Oak Creek School’s Agriculture banner and Farm Fresh sign — a true symbol of what this program is all about. It feels so special that LISA is piloting this right where Low Income Student Aid first began its journey. Some things really do come full circle. ❤️
A big shout-out to Mike, our LISA partner-in-crime, who first sparked the snack program conversations. It’s amazing how one small idea can grow into something with real impact — this could become a signature LISA initiative!
And one last fun fact... 🥳 November 30, 2025, marks LISA’s 8th birthday! Here’s to eight years of service, innovation, and heart. 💙

🎉🍣 Things got deliciously educational in 8th grade Ag class at Oak Creek School! While learning about food/fish preservation, students took a deep dive into the history of sushi and even rolled their own maki! 👩🍳👨🍳
Hands-on, tasty, and tied to real food science — now that’s how you make learning stick! 🌾🥢

🌟 Shoutout to Our Amazing OCS Kitchen Staff and Custodian! 🌟
Today, our incredible kitchen staff and custodian went above and beyond! Due to an unexpected water leak that needed immediate repair, lunch plans had to change fast, but that didn’t stop our team. 💪
In under an hour, 264 students were fed — and our kitchen crew did it with grace, speed, and smiles! 🥪💛 Our custodian worked tirelessly to make sure everything was safe and running smoothly so the day could continue without a hitch.
We are so grateful for their hard work, flexibility, and teamwork. You truly make OCS shine! ✨👏

✨ First Grade Fairy Tale Fun! ✨
Our amazing first graders at OCS wrapped up their fairy tale unit in the most creative way — by building Cinderella’s Castle out of recyclables! 🏰♻️
The students worked together, used their imaginations, and were so proud of their incredible creations. This hands-on project was the perfect way to bring their fairy tale lessons to life. 💙👑

✨ STEM in Action! ✨📏
Our kindergartners at OCS had a blast exploring measurement throughout their classroom today! From tables and chairs to books and blocks, they measured it all — discovering how tall things are and learning to compare different sizes. 🌟
Hands-on activities like this build early math and problem-solving skills, and as a STEM school, we love seeing our youngest learners grow their curiosity and critical thinking. 💡💙

For 20+ years, Mrs. Walter has been making a difference in the lives of her students! In the classroom, she is innovative, passionate, and dedicated to making learning fun and engaging. She has a gift for bringing stories to life, making math enjoyable, and creating an environment where students are excited to learn. Most of all, she’s just a really kind and awesome teacher, and it’s clear every day how much she loves teaching her students. Her impact lasts well beyond 2nd grade, older students still return to say hello and share the lasting influence she’s had on their lives.
Mrs. Walter grew up right here in Sedona and has always had a love for learning. She earned her Master’s in Education with a minor in Science and is a proud graduate of Northern Arizona University. Her strong educational foundation and local roots make her an even more treasured part of our school community.
Outside of school, Mrs. Walter continues to inspire as the Head Coach of Mingus’s Girls Varsity Soccer Team. A former Division II soccer player herself, she brings her love of sports and her competitive spirit to the field. She uses the game to teach lifelong lessons of teamwork, perseverance, and never giving up, lessons that carry over to every part of life.
Thank you, Mrs. Walter, for your dedication, your passion, and the incredible impact you’ve had both in the classroom and on the field. We are so grateful for you!
